Stay / shroud tension

Postby mainefalcon » Mon Jul 08, 2013 8:20 pm

Hello,
We just launched and rigged our Falcon for the second time since owning it, and are planning to keep her in the water until mid September. On our first sail this past Saturday, I noticed when we were tacking, the leeward shroud would go slack. On a starboard tack, there was slack in the port shroud, and vice versa. Is this normal? Sitting on the mooring, both shrouds and the forestay are all tight.

Thanks,

John

John,

That's completely normal, my boat does that even with a non-stock set of lower shrouds. I've had my boat for 30 years now....
