tangs & jib block

Postby mainefalcon » Mon Sep 10, 2012 12:15 pm

Hello,
I've been pecking away at our restoration this summer, and our Falcon is nearly ready for a lake trial (hopefully next weekend). With a little help from a can of PB Blaster, I managed to remove the rusted screws that fasten the forestay tang and jib block to the mast. My plan is to replace them with new ones (stainless steel). My question is this: are those screws going to be strong enough? It seems like a lot of stress on those tiny screws when the boat is underway--especially the one for the forestay.
Thanks,
John
